A simple peach salsa is a summer classic
There’s nothing like a ripe, juicy peach to tell you you’re in the thick of summer! When fantasizing about this simple peach salsa, I knew I wanted to use ingredients that would enhance the sweet flavor of the peaches – vanilla and a pinch of sugar. The basil adds a nice earthy tone and the lemon juice contributes to a fresh, clean taste.
I initially wanted to make this peach salsa to pair with homemade jerk chicken tacos – and oh my gosh were they good! But you could also pair it with salads, rice, chicken breasts, chips or even yogurt.
Kitchen essentials
- A paring knife and a cutting board
- A mixing bowl
Substitutions
- Vanilla bean powder: you can substitute 1/2 tsp of vanilla bean powder with 1 tsp vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste.
- Fresh basil: you can substitute each tablespoon of fresh basil for one teaspoon of dried basil.
- Cane sugar: I don’t recommend using liquid sweeteners (ie. honey or maple syrup) or the salsa will be too wet.
